TOP 10 GROWING RESTAURANT TIPS AND TRICKS

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not much of a business person. However, I’ve learned that I need all the help when growing my restaurant.

Here are Top 10 growing restaurant tips and tricks that have worked for me:

1. ACT LIKE YOU'RE ALREADY THERE

You may want to start thinking like a successful restaurant owner without actually owning one. You can do this by studying other restaurants and how they work. Some ideas:

  • What kind of customer service do you get at your favorite restaurant? Take notes of everything from the greeting to the goodbye and how it makes you feel. Now implement that into your business model.
  • Observe the décor of your favorite restaurants and mimic their style in your own space.
  • What do the menus look like? How are they formatted? What kind of language is used?
  • Pay attention to how the restaurant uses social media and what kind of posts they make. For example, do they use contests or giveaways to drive traffic?

2. TAKE YOUR PASSION AND MAKE IT VALUABLE

We’ve all dreamed of owning our own business, but what does it take to succeed? What makes one person successful over another? There are many different causes for this (I’m not here to point fingers; I’m just describing the problem), but for me, I was looking in the wrong place. I was looking for a magic solution when the answer was staring me right.

The truth is that I’m not successful because I own a restaurant. I’m successful because I have a passion for my industry and pour that passion into my business every day. It’s what sets me apart from the competition. When you find something you’re passionate about, that’s when clients can tell, and they’ll want to be a part of it too. One of the most important things I’ve learned as a restaurant owner is that my passion is valuable.

3. FOCUS ON YOUR STRENGTHS

Some jobs you’re good at and others not so much, but you should focus on what you’re good at and put your energy there. For example, I know that I’m great with people and have a knack for making them feel comfortable. So, I focus on creating an inviting environment and providing excellent customer service. It comes naturally to me, and my clients appreciate it.

4. DELEGATE

One of the first things I had to learn as a business owner was that I couldn’t do it all. And that’s okay! It’s downright impossible. That’s why it’s important to delegate tasks to your employees even if they’re not always the most qualified for the job. Trust me, and it will save you a lot of time and stress in the long run.

5. SET GOALS AND TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

This one is a no-brainer, but it’s still important to mention. Every business should have long-term and short-term goals and track its progress along the way. It will help you stay on track and make necessary adjustments.

6. GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR MARKETING

As a small business, it’s essential to get creative with your marketing to stand out from the competition. One way to do this is by using unique tactics such as social media contests or giveaways. You can also partner with other businesses in your area to cross-promote each other.

7. CREATE A BRAND IDENTITY

What do you want them to think of when people think of your restaurant? Is it a particular type of food? A certain atmosphere? A specific price range? As the owner, you need to create a brand identity for your restaurant and stick to it. It will make you more successful in the long run because it’ll make it easier for customers to choose your restaurant when they’re out and about.

8. STAY UP-TO-DATE WITH INDUSTRY TRENDS

Trends are constantly changing, so restaurateurs need to stay up-to-date on what’s new in their industry. It will help you keep your menu fresh and appealing to customers.

9. GET INVOLVED IN YOUR COMMUNITY

As a small business, it’s essential to get involved in your local community. It will help you build relationships with potential customers and partners. In addition, you can participate in local events or donate to charitable organizations.

10. HAVE A SOLID BUSINESS PLAN

Last but not least, every business should have a solid business plan. It will help you stay organized and focused on your goals. It will also help you make necessary adjustments along the way.

CONCLUSION

These are just some of the many tips and tricks I’ve learned as a restaurant owner. If you’re starting, I highly recommend reading up on as many of these as possible. They’ll help you get on the right track and achieve success quickly.
